Borussia Dortmund
With an incredible average attendance of 80,000 at home games Borussia Dortmund is second to none in Europe or indeed worldwide when it comes to popularity. The massive Westfalenstadion - or Signal Iduna park as it is officially known - provides the 'Schwarzgelben' (Black and Yellows) with a very impressive home ground, famous for the intense atmosphere it breeds and certain to intimidate any opponent. It is one of the reasons why Dortmund has conquered a position as one of the best and biggest teams to come out of Germany.
Like Celtic, Spurs and Feyenoord in their respective countries, Borussia Dortmund was the first German team ever to win a European trophy. They did such in 1967 when they won the Cup Winners' Cup. In 1997 the club was at its peak winning both the Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup. In 2002 the club had a first chance to complete winning all European Cups, but lost to Feyenoord in the UEFA Cup final.
Whilst 'BVB' may not have reached the same heights in recent years, the club will shortly be celebrating its own centenary (1909-2009), and the German team will be more than eager to start the festivities early by doing well in Rotterdam. In De Kuip Borussia will be playing Feyenoord on Friday and Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. With a squad that includes stars like Diego Klimowicz, Antonio Rukavina, Alexander Frei, Robert Kovac and Christian Wörns Dortmund are certain to put up a great fight.
